SignalHunt reads publicly visible post text from pages you've already opened in your authenticated browser session. It does not use LinkedIn's API, spawn headless browsers, use proxies, or bypass authentication. This is functionally identical to you viewing the page source (Ctrl+U) and is how browser extensions like Dux-Soup and Meet Alfred operate.
An API key is required for AI outreach generation. Signal detection works without one — it uses regex pattern matching first. Get a key at platform.openai.com/api-keys. It's encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored locally in your browser.
Only two things: (1) When you click "Generate outreach," the signal snippet and company name are sent to OpenAI. A visible indicator confirms this. (2) License validation sends a hashed ID only — no names, no signals, no PII. All signal data stays on your device.
Scans run on randomized intervals: base time ± 27 minutes of jitter. Free plan: ~6 hours. Pro: ~2 hours. LinkedIn is capped at 4 scans per hour with automatic 24-hour pause if rate-limited. Other sources (Crunchbase, Careers, News) have independent schedules.
